Is it time to end the war on drugs?

The War on Drugs, how long has this been a sound bite for politicians around the world.

Who is winning the war and as the world becomes more polarised who still wants the war, certainly not Ireland, Portugal, Canada , Holland and Switzerland.

Current drugs policies can turn people with low level use for medicinal purposes into criminals. If convicted of drug offences sentences range from a warning to fines to prison. Research by Harm Reduction International shows that in 33 countries around the world drug offences can carry the death sentence.

Will 2016 be the year when the war ends and a sensible approach to legalisation of Cannabis for recreational use is introduced?
